When I heard whispers of newly opened The Stable, a Shangri La for Pizza and Cider lovers, I could barely contain my excitement. Then I found out it was £10 for a Pizza, Cider and Salad on a Tuesday!!! A long weekend of waiting and an especially hard day at the office later, it was finally Pizza Time (to the tune of Chico Time). Battling the bitter February wind all along the Quay, we couldn’t be happier to see the warm welcoming glow of The Stable.
We tumbled in and were greeted by this little guy, Moses.
Spirits lifted, we nestled into a corner, perused the menu and chatted about our day. I knew exactly what I wanted, the Lamb Roast. After a mouthful last time I was here with Becca I wanted to try the full effect.
J ummed and ahhed between the Longhorn Jim and Deerly Beloved, but eventually Jim won him over.
Orders are placed at the bar and where you will be guided through picking your choice of cider (or beer).
After picking out a delicous Pear and Strawberry number I was given the grand tour. If you can’t pick just one, why not try the tasting board? 5 1/3 pints of cider for £7.50
The decor makes me want to cover our walls with decals.
You can watch the chefs flip the dough in the open kitchen and see your pizza coming out of the oven.
Back at the table these beauties arrived!
The Stable’s original menu brings together tender pieces of lamb with chunks of minty sweet potato, a strange yet perfect combintation of toppings.
The Longhorn Jim is a localy sourced twist on a meat feast pizza with ground beef and Bath Pig Co Chorizo topped off with roasted red onion.
When the boards were clear and the glasses were empty we both agreed it was the best pizza in town. Set to take over the South Coast, there are branches in Bristol, Bridport, Bath, Weymouth and Fistral Beach too.
This is one of my favourite grazing grounds – great for a midweek dinner, a girly catch up or you can rent out the whole top floor and have a pizza party (please invite me!).
