Remember the nursery rhyme, ‘I’m the King of the Castle, You’re the Dirty Rascals’, well the sun was out and my Partner in Crime and I headed off for some fun in Corfe, a tiny village that just happens to be built around a Castle. It’s also home to my favourite pub, The Bankes Arms Inn.
Jackson got their house burger, which was, in his own words, ‘the best burger of all time’ obviously with a claim like that I had to give it a try, and WOW.
I asked the chef what his secret was, and apparently its all in the wholegrain mustard seeds!
I wish all my veg looked like this.
After a drink or two, we decided to follow the sun and head for the hills, it wasn’t long before we were distracted by this adorable sweet shop.
Inside there were all the old favourites and some new ones as well.
Of course we picked up some sweets for the journey home!
If you visit (you should), be prepared to amble your way from pub to shop to another pub for hours before you even consider going to the Castle. Corfe may be small but it’s jam packed, just like the cream tea’s!
After some more moseying around we made it to the foot of the Castle and where we were met by the locals.
Luckily for Jackson I left my rotten tomatoes at home!
Remember how I said we hopped in the car and headed off all impromptu, well I wore the most unsuitable shoes for exploring so we admired the Castle from the sidelines, if you’re planning a trip have your Converse at the ready.
Once we had taken in the scenery it was time to head home, and tuck into the lemon sherbets!
Bye Corfe, see you soon!
